This multi-user networked piece reimagines how we engage with art. Traditionally, museums encourage quiet, individual contemplation where visitors stand silently before artworks, rarely exchanging thoughts in the moment. This project challenges that norm by turning art appreciation into a shared, expressive experience.
Using The Met’s public API, the app displays a live artwork and invites users to respond through emojis, a playful and emotional visual language. Built with WebSockets, it connects multiple users in real time, creating a dynamic space where personal reactions become part of a collective dialogue. By replacing silence with networked reflection, the work explores how digital tools can open new, participatory modes of connection around art.
